Prepare to Soar - Dale Taylor
With Spring approaching, I thought I would share a weakness... I personally get so anxious to soar again that I mentally review my flight skills and read through the last few issues of Soaring Magazine that were ignored during the holiday season. Why all the reading... well, perhaps it's something I shouldn't admit to, but when I haven't flown for a couple of months I start to wonder if I've really remembered everything I should. If I'm still as sharp as I should be, if I still know all of the safety issues and am on top of anything that could possibly happen while I'm the pilot. I enjoy the safety columns and even read through the online FAA incident database so I can personally understand any events of the previous year and make sure to avoid them myself. Don't take this wrong, I feel confident as a pilot and fly knowing I'm safe, but at this time of year I like to double check the armor and make sure it doesn't need any polishing. After all, it takes a certain type of person to be able to fly 2 miles above the ground with your life in your hand and be completely comfortable and enjoy the view! I don't ever want to be so arrogant that I miss something and get caught un-aware. I hope each of us will review our skills as we prepare for another flying season.

VP Update - Paul Schneider
- The Dittel radio is back and should now work as advertised. That is, having both preset and tunable frequencies.

- The new canopy cover for the Grob came in and it really looks nice. Iris Stiedeck at Ridge Soaring did the job. She said it was a pattern specifically for the Grob. It is made frorm "Sunscreen" material and looks very durable.
