Also, thanks to Marc Emley for disassembling the 1-34 in Hurricane, bringing it to Heber, and assembling it again. The 1-34 was flown 32 times at Heber last season and 22 times at Hurricane. We expect higher usage at Hurricane this coming winter. Its a great place to fly, and a great place to enjoy the sun while Salt Lake is under several inches of snow. Several soaring enthusiasts from across the country have moved or are in the process of moving to our area. Some of them are competition pilots and own their own gliders. If we see them at the field, lets make sure that we welcome them and make them feel at home. DUTY OFFICER LIST by Matt McNamara Welcome to the 1997 soaring season. With club activity growing, the Duty Officer is more important than ever! Last years turnout of club members made this program successful, and we hope to do even better this year. To do that we need your help. Please arrive at the airport by noon on your scheduled Saturday. Your duties will include, among other things, cleaning canopies (proper materials will be provided), helping pilots to stage gliders and securing gliders at days end. A list of other related duties will be available in the Soar Utah office. Suggestions are welcomed! As with last year, if you cannot make your appointed Saturday, it is your responsibility to find someone to fill your slot. Several people have traded without any problems. Please remember, its only one Saturday in a long season, and your help is greatly appreciated! If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Matt McNamara at 582- 1299.
