The Glider's Are Assembled - David Lane
The Grob and 1-34: They are assembled and ready to fly in Heber. We struggled a bit assembling the Grob, and after talking with Dale I think we have distilled the difficulties down to four things which can throw a wrench into the works.

Make sure these four "tricks" are done and the glider seems to go together more easily.

1) Clean and grease the fittings.
2) In the fuselage, make certain that all four connector sleeves (with the slots for the little nipple-like pins) are pressed in and rotated so that the pins are NOT in the slots.
3) Pop the spoilers open in each wing before insertion.
4) Put the right wing on first and tighten the connectors on that side all the way.

Thanks to all who lent a hand.

2003 Calendar of Events

Spring BBQ May 24
Nephi Soaring Safari June 13, 14
Cache Valley Soar-in July 23 - 26
Fall BBQ Sept 13
Heber Disassembly Day Nov 1

The 2-33: It's assembled in Morgan and ready to fly. Lynn gave me my BFR in it and we were even able to soar during a break in the weather. My understanding is that the glider's annual will be completed by the end of the month. There are a couple of things I'd like to mention.

1) The glider is currently tied down using chains on the wings and tail at the northernmost point in the row. Please take the care needed to assure that it will not bang around.
2) If you have not flown at Morgan please get a check ride from an experienced "Morganite". The left downwind of 21 is maybe a little more interesting than Heber.
3) The battery is currently stored in Jay's office.

Much thanks go to Tom and Bob for donating their Saturday morning to the effort.

Spring BBQ - Jim Krog
Assembly day was very enjoyable because so many members came out to help and we had a fine lunch thanks to Wasatch Aero who also provided a hangar to do the assemblies in out of the wind and rain. On Saturday, May 24th we will again have our club BBQ. Please come out and enjoy this social event. If enough show up a little early we can also give the 1-34 a wax job.

Scheduling Changes - David Lane
The Club has begun using a new Internet-based glider scheduling system. You no longer need to call either Dave at Heber or Jay at Morgan. Here is the new protocol:

1) Go to http://www.aircraftclubs.com
2) Click on Flight Schedule
3) Fill in the Club ID: USA
4) Fill in the First Name: Your first name
5) Fill in the Last Name: Your last name
6) Fill in the Password: The password sent to you in the email from aircraft clubs.
(over)

Use the names that came in the email from Aircraft clubs. If we don't have your email correctly, you didn't get an email from AircraftClubs. Jim has access to all names and passwords. Contact him for yours. You can change names and password from the site once you log in if you wish. The rest is pretty self explanatory. Choose the glider, date and time you wish to fly. Contact Jim Krog for assistance if you are having trouble with the system. Please remember to update the schedule if your plans change. One of the reasons we went to this system is to give you no excusses for no-showing. Get your reservation off the system as soon as you know you will not be there. Then others who want to fly will see the opening and have access to that time slot. If you can't make the change via internet, call Jim Krog or David Robinson. They are administrators and can make the change on the internet for you. This shouldn't happen too often. It is your responsibility to use the system properly and make your own changes. Any questions can be addressed to Jim Krog via email or phone.

Nephi Safari - David Lane
The 1-34 will be in Nephi during the Safari on June 13 and 14 and has been reserved by myself and Dale. I am willing help disassamble/assemble the Grob if anyone is interested in bringing it to the event as well. All members with their own glider are invited to be there. Last years event was a great time. The Thompson's put on some excellent evening entertainment and great meals. The cost is very fair. Contact the Thompsons at Morgan Valley Soaring for a reservation application.
